9to5Google 的来源表示 Google 正在测试一种新的混合解锁方案：利用前置摄像头识别用户，当人脸识别到一定程度时，降低指纹解锁的匹配复杂度，从而更快速的解锁手机。
这种新的解锁方式不需要镜头支持双像素对焦（DPAF），因此也有可能出现在 Pixel 6、6a 等机型上。
（目前可以确定的是 Pixel 7 系列前置摄像头将支持 DPAF，但对 Pixel 6 Pro 而言，人脸识别解锁可能永远都只是一个实验性功能了）

定于明年 Q3 正式发布的 Android 原生开发套件 (NDK) r26 终于计划放弃对 Android KitKat (4.4) 的支持，也意味着将删除旧版 Android 的 libandroid_support 兼容库，此举将有助于利用 NDK 开发的 Android 应用缩小体积，并减去一个历史兼容包袱。
